VosZiel has been in the planning stages, on and off, for years now. I've gotten a lot of positive response to my ideas already, so I'm very excited to work on this project. I now have a wonderful assistant programmer, a few great artists working alongside me, and some lovely mods and staff <3 It's really a pleasure working with them. The site's coming along very nicely :]

What is it?

Vos Ziel means 'Fox Soul' in Dutch. Or 'Soul of the Fox'. It may be off a little, as I haven't studied the language, but it's short and relatively simple so we'll use it anyway ;]

As far as I know, this is the first (and only) simulation game to deal with foxes. It is a unique blend of survival and competition. A separate roleplaying area will be available as well. You may choose whether you're here for the game, roleplay, and/or the community.

Why is it different?

It is my goal to make this a game where you can always find something to look forward to. Success, litters, and breeding season will all be anticipated by the user. The game will be rather realistic and, hopefully, a little more challenging. (A lot of time and effort is going into research and planning in order to achieve this.) The goal is not to reach perfection. As in real life, random chance is as much of a factor as careful planning. There is no straight road to success. What your particular goals are may vary from other users. Whether you breed for color, health, stats, physical qualities, etc. is totally up to you. You are limited to two accounts, one species per account. Certain things will vary based on the species you own, such as breeding season and the animals you hunt. Here are a few other select features to look forward to:

- 24 species of fox
- In-game calendar with seasons
- Breeding seasons
- Territories
- Hunting
- Complex genetics
- Possibility of death, disease, and disorders
- Hidden stats (For a greater challenge)
- Competitions

When will it open?

I honestly have no idea when it will be completed or open. I'm no longer working by myself so it will probably be a lot sooner than I had originally planned. We now have a host as well. Just have to get a decent portion coded before we can go into alpha testing.

Can I purchase an alpha account?

No, not at the moment. A new journal will be made when accounts are available. Keep an eye out! :]

Will you notify me if/when..?

No, sorry. I don't really have the time to keep a record of everyone or to send out the messages. I thank you for your interest though, and I do hope you watch for future updates!

Wow, I'm completely overwhelmed by the number of applications I've received for this site. I'm also very grateful to everyone who has applied and/or shown interest <3 Unfortunately, there were at least 35 or 40 of you and I don't have that many positions to give out. I was planning on having 3 moderators.. maybe 4 max. But I gave out 6 positions. I think that's fair c: I also have 4 idea positions filled, which is plenty. But you can never have too many ideas <3 I have 3 artists, but I'd really love some more applications for this position. I'm mostly looking for artists at this point.

Also, I ask that you refrain from posting complaints. I'd love to have every single one of you on the team, but that's unreasonable, and I really don't need to be put on a guilt trip. Thank you <3

I may be back for some of you in the future. As the site grows.. well, let me rephrase that.. if the site grows, I'm sure I'll need additional help. There were a lot of great applications that I had to turn down for no reason other than having too many forms and too few positions to fill.

Artist Requirements

Items: You should be able to draw things such as dead animals (morbid, I know), berries, insects, eggs, and various other things in nature. There may be some other random holiday items and such as well. Items will need to be 300x300 pixels because I'm not sure what size I want them to be on the site yet. I'll want the PSD file of each item. Items should be semi-realistic with some shading. No really thick lines, and they must be smooth.

Species images: You should be able to draw various fox species.

Maps: I'm not exactly sure how this will work yet.. but I may need a few different environments.

Various site art: Error page, welcome image, various fox images and such throughout the site.

Site banner: You should be able to make something nice for the top of the site's layout.

Layout: You should be fairly competent in coding and have some ability to design.

Artist Payment

- Account (two digits at most)
- Some sort of upgrade [Possibly forever (case-by-case basis)]
- Recognition in the site's credits

USD isn't an option at this point, though I may throw that in later on. Right now it's being saved for hosting.

Okay. So I LOVE 3 Doors Down. Seriously, they're the best <3 And they finally came close enough for me to go see them! omg. It was AWESOMMEE 4th row, baby! And I would've been closer if I had known earlier that the tickets were available. But.. still. I could like.. see his sweat. lol. And feel the heat of the fire when they shot it up. I totally jumped like a spaz every time I heard the loud bang from the fire gas thing. It was SO COOL. And then.. he looked directly at me when he was singing and I was like omgomg ILOVEYOU <3 *melts* I'll definitely remember that concert for life. Especially cause I took like 50 mini videos of it on my phone. lol.

Oh. And they had Staind and Hinder open up for them. So that was neat. 'Cause they're both pretty cool. I was kinda weary about watching Hinder at first and was just gonna watch it from the VIP tent thing instead.. 'cause he's into the women.. too much.. and I didn't really want to see any flashing. lol. But I decided to go out and watch them too. And they were pretty good. Andd.. I got a guitar pick and drum stick from them! So it was defintely worth it.

And then Staind played after them. And they were good too. I thought I only knew two songs by them.. but it turns out I actually knew more.. like.. I didn't know all of the words, but I could sort of rock along and sing a little of the chorus 'cause I'd at least heard the songs before.

So yeah. Anyway >.> I totally recommend that you go see their concert if you're into them :] Worth every penny <33

Last Friday we finally switched over to high speed internet. I've always used AOL prior to this. So it was pretty exciting c: dA doesn't freeze every time I view a full-size image and everything just loads like 5 billion times faster. It was all fun and dandy until the next day. I forgot to put the Windows Firewall thing up.. because AOL had it's own nice little security thing and I never had any problems with it off. So.. two or three hours into enjoying my new DSL, my computer starts SPAZZING. Like 3 virus scanning security things pop up on my screen all of a sudden and there were a bunch of notifications with exclamation marks telling me my computer was at risk and being attacked. There were around 130 something threats against my computer.. most being spyware and that trojan thing. What a bummer. I spent all of TWO or THREE hours with high speed and my computer dies. I spent a few hours trying to fix it, but my computer kept restarting every time I tried to delete the threats. The full scan I was trying to run would have deleted all or most of the virus' and spyware and whatever else for me.. but everytime I got about a third or halfway through, my computer would restart. The only option left was to take my computer to this guy who could get rid of it for me. I had like a million files on my computer between schoolwork and art.. they're all gone now. It was already a bit of money to have my computer entirely erased so I decided not to add another couple of hundred onto that to retrieve all of my files back. I don't suppose I had anything -that- important P: It's all good now though. I've got my computer back and started putting my art programs and such onto it again.

And.. I know it seems like I haven't really been around much, even before my computer-less week. I actually -am- here.. I scan through my deviantWatch list all of the time and comment or fav every so often. I just haven't been able to upload anything. I'm in one of those 'I can't draw' sort of periods. I haven't had much time to really put any effort into drawing. School had me tied down and will again next year, even more-so. Now that the summer is here, I'm going to try to get a style together. I want consistency. Everything I draw looks different.. and it's not really improvement differences.. it's mostly just inconsistency. So, basically, I have a lot of work to do. I may or may not upload for a while. I appreciate all of the new watchers though, despite my absence and lack of uploads <3
